This little script is a must if you must program in Mercury’s Winrunner:
High level interface to create_custom_dialog(). With this script, the winrunner programmer can easily and painlessly create input dialogs without directly using create_custom_dialog(). It will also allow the creation of “dialog resources”. This means, you can store your dialog tables and use them (and reuse them) when needed.
Another nice feature is that all the data the user inputs in the dialog is stored in memory and can be easily accesed with function calls. There won’t be a need to define variables/arrays to store the data.
You can download it here.
I never liked xmms’s (incorrect) “sort by path” feature. In fact I hated it so much that I wrote a python script to sort my playlists. But since xmms is open-source, I wrote a little patch to fix xmms’s playlist. You can find it here.

I was reading the new Slashdot poll:
Your Biggest Failure as a Nerd?
and it seems that I’m a failure as a nerd. I have seen LOTR-fotr and LOTR-ttt dozens of times (literally, I know every single line of the dialogs), LOTR-rotk only like 8 times, I did build my own computers, I have been running linux since 1997, I have caffeine instead of blood, I _never_ excercise, I use 5 email accounts (and have some other dummy ones) and my karma is excelent.
The problem to my nerdhood is that I _do_ have a significant other. I wonder… how exactly is that a bad thing?
btw, it seems that to regain a perfect nerd-score, I should leave my wife for a lesbian and get a webcam. I don’t think so.
I was lurking in my hard-drive and I found a little Lord of the Rings story board I made 3 years ago, dated October 6, 2001. It had some limited circulation on the Internet, but as you can see, it somehow inspired Peter Jackson, specially the Minas Tirith scenes.
I am a _big_ JRR Tolkien fan. I admire him for his vision, he wanted a great mithology for his country (England), and he was succesful. The Middle Earth Mythos is far more rich and complex than Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey. Our modern concepts of elves, dwarves and mythical times, are Tolkien’s work. And in general, I’m quite satisfied with the movies (I just hate what they did to Gimli, reducing him as a comical relief character).
I rewrote the layout of the site to something more of my liking, this means, something dull and with no colors. I think this will be the final layout.
Now begins the “add links to the blog” stage, so if you have any suggestions for a link or link category, let me know.
