First was Antonio Ognio. Now, after years with gentoo, Manuel Lora is now a proud Debian GNU/Linux user. He is one of the most (if not the most) proficient gentoo users I know, but still, he finds his Debian SID box faster than his previous gentoo box. So long with the famous “performance gain” of gentoo :-)

Who will be next? Jorge (gentoo) or Cesar (fedora)?
Resistance is futile!

plz! i never praised gentoo for speed, but because of configurabilty and it is still better than debian in taht regards.
I present to you mister ‘dpkg-reconfigure -plow package’
Well I think he’s talking about the fact that being able to configure from sources means that you can add options which wouldn’t be feasible in binaries, because of the bloated binary and extra dependencies that people would end up with if Debian shipped their packages with a lot of options configured in. Maybe apt-source will address this issue :)
