Of Debian, Gnome and Nokia
Wednesday, May 25th, 2005Nokia has just announced the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet.

Now this wouldn’t be interesting (at least for me), but the 770:
- Runs Debian GNU/Linux (kernel 2.6) in an ARM processor
- The user interface is GNOME based
- They created an open platform called Maemo and they are encouraging maemo developers to use the GPL
The maemo platform can be seen here:

You can, of course, download the entire thing from Maemo’s apt repositories, and they recommend the use of Debian or Ubuntu Linux.
And of course, at least in it’s default configuration, it doesn’t play OGG :-(
